Microchip stated that this collaboration is part of its ongoing strategy to enhance supply chain resilience. Other measures include investing in additional technology to enhance internal manufacturing capabilities and capacity, as well as establishing more regional diversity and redundancy with wafer fabs, foundries, assembly, testing, and OSAT partners.
JASM is TSMC's controlling manufacturing subsidiary in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Its wafer production capacity further enhances Microchip's ability to serve a wide range of global customers in various markets such as automotive, industrial, and network applications.
In addition, TSMC's partnership and JASM capacity help offset external factors, such as frequently changing business conditions and natural disasters (such as the recent earthquake in Taiwan, China, China, which led to the suspension of some production), thus reducing the risk of supply chain disruption.
Michael Finley, Senior Vice President of Global Manufacturing and Technology at Microchip, stated, "Microchip's reputation for providing responsible and reliable supply management has been enhanced by TSMC's new manufacturing path. ”With the support of elasticity and strong manufacturing capabilities, customers can confidently design our products into their applications and platforms
Rose Castanares, Senior Vice President of Business Management at TSMC North America, stated, "This move with Microchip further demonstrates TSMC's commitment to supporting long-term customer growth and innovation. ”Our expanded collaboration with Microchip will ensure that our collective ability to manufacture and provide these features when needed by global customers continues to evolve as leading technologies continue to evolve
